County approves parcel transfer to Georgetown; Bridge 51 remains closed after dam failure

Council members approved a joint resolution to transfer a small easement parcel on Georgetown Lanesville Road to the Town of Georgetown. Georgetown Town Manager Randy Keener said the town plans some of the area to be green space and to realign Lois Lane "so busses and fire trucks can get in and service," enabling safer access to the neighborhood.
Director of Building and Development Nick Creevy provided an update on Bridge 51. The bridge remains closed after a dam failure; the original dam owner did not accept the appraisal before failure and the county continues acquisition work through the courts. Creevy said the county anticipates the acquisition phase will be completed by the end of March, which would allow the county to set a construction letting timeline for bidding in September. The council approved the parcel transfer resolution as advertised.
