The Elko County Budget Committee approved a request to cover an additional $18,670 associated with a change order for an ambulance purchased on March 13, 2023. Staff said most of the $7,000 change-order portion reflects chassis cost increases and that some safety-feature adjustments were made; the total request of $18,670 also includes restoring funds previously used to purchase striker equipment. Chris McCann, EMS chief, clarified the equipment: "striker equipment is the gurney, and then it's also a load system, to be able to unload and unload safer." (Chris McCann, EMS chief.)
Committee members modified the motion to include the total $18,670 figure, the motion was seconded and the committee approved it by voice vote. Staff noted the ambulance is now in production and lead times and price changes drove the need for the additional funding; the committee directed the recommendation to move forward (the committee approved the amount at this meeting).
