Board adopts unified development ordinance cleanup to clarify industrial contractor uses

Planning & Zoning staff member Zeiner outlined proposed amendments to the county's unified development ordinance intended as clean-up language to fix items missed in earlier revisions. Zeiner described that the amendment allows certain contractor uses "as a special exception in light industrial (I1) and as a permitted use in general industrial (I2) districts only and allows for contractors - heavy/contractor yard as permitted use only in general industrial (I2) district," language intended to clarify where those uses belong in the zoning matrix.
The Plan Commission voted favorably and no public opposition was recorded. Commissioner Tom Helmer made the motion to approve the amendment, Commissioner Rick Woodall seconded, and the motion passed unanimously; the change was filed as Ordinance #2024-12-2-2. The ordinance is corrective language for the zoning code; staff will incorporate the amendment into the published ordinance text and map as required.
