The Coosa County Commission approved several items affecting the Sheriff’s Office Feb. 11, 2025. A memo from Sheriff Michael Howell records that Derrick B. Thompson was rehired as a Correctional Officer/Dispatcher with a hire date of Jan. 14, 2025 and a pay rate of $15.73 per hour. The Commission also approved removing a garbage disposal from jail inventory (Asset #701217, Decal #1414) and an Epson dot-matrix printer from Commission office inventory (Asset #400225, Decal #00380) as surplus.
The Commission approved the Sheriff’s request to obtain an additional Konica Minolta Bizhub 4051i under a one-year maintenance contract with Royal Office Equipment. Contract details in the record state a base monthly maintenance fee of $25 with 1,500 black-and-white copies included and excess copy charges of $0.015 per copy; the contract specifies toner, developer and drum are included but not paper or staples. The sheriff’s rehiring memo was signed by Michael Howell; contract documentation bears a Royal Office Equipment signature line.
