Coosa County approves multiple departmental budgets with amendments

At its Sept. 30 recessed meeting, the Coosa County Commission unanimously approved a series of departmental budgets subject to amendments, including revenue, reappraisal and mapping, highway, sheriff, probate, nutrition centers, public transportation, maintenance, and EMS; the commission tabled absorbing a health insurance cost increase.
The Coosa County Commission met Sept. 30 in Rockford and voted unanimously to approve multiple departmental budgets subject to amendments, including the Revenue Commission, Reappraisal and Mapping, Highway Department, Sheriff’s Department and Jail, Judge of Probate, Nutrition Centers, Public Transportation, Maintenance, and EMS/Ambulance budgets.
Commissioner John Forbus moved to approve the Revenue Commissioner budget subject to amendments; Vice-Chair Brandon Davis seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Other motions included Commissioner Bertha K. McElrath’s approval of the Reappraisal and Mapping budget and Vice-Chair Davis’s motion to approve the Highway Department budget, each recorded as approved subject to amendments. The commission also voted to table a proposal for the commission to absorb a health insurance cost/increase, with Forbus’s motion to table carrying unanimously.
The approvals were procedural and noted as pending further amendment details. The commission set follow-up dates and will finalize budget sheets as needed in subsequent proceedings.
