Ambulance director to pursue billing for non-transported calls; draft policy would bill insured residents and non-residents

The Gooding County Ambulance District is moving toward charging for some non-transported calls after a staff training, the Ambulance Director reported. Director Kepler said Gooding County is among the few that do not bill for non-transport calls. System Design West is drafting a policy that would add a flat rate for non-transport refusals and Director Kepler will have legal counsel review the draft.
According to the minutes, "In the new policy, residents with insurance would have their insurance billed and any remaining balance would be written off. Non-residents would receive a bill." The Board recessed into the Ambulance District meeting at 10:30 a.m. to hear the update; Director Kepler is responsible for coordinating the policy review and implementation steps.
