Coosa County commissioners unanimously approved a citizen participation plan for the state's Community Development Block Grant program at the Aug. 13 meeting. Chair Bertha K. McElrath certified that the plan provides for public hearings, encourages participation by low- and moderate-income residents, offers technical assistance upon request, and includes provisions to accommodate non-English-speaking residents where appropriate.
The certification also documents a target of responding to written complaints within 15 working days "where practicable" and affirms that the county will provide timely access to meetings, information and records related to proposed and actual use of CDBG funds. The commission adopted a resolution formally authorizing the plan and the chair to execute required certifications for the county to remain eligible for state CDBG funding.
