Commission approves bridge-inspection contract and reviews paving bids and reimbursements

"This bid equates to $205,000.00 per mile of paving," Barfield said.
Barfield also reported that the Poole Road bridge rehabilitation has been completed and that right-of-way and title work on FEMA bridge projects is advancing, with Caldwell Road complete and LET planned for July. For ongoing bridge inspection needs, he presented an agreement from Three Notch Engineering for inspection services with a $20,000-per-month inspector cost and the county responsible for five percent of the total. Commissioner Jeff Hatcher moved to approve the Three Notch Engineering inspection agreement subject to Attorney Phil Eldridge's approval; Commissioner Weston Spivey seconded and the motion passed 4-0. The commission also discussed grader staffing and equipment replacement as part of ongoing road-maintenance planning.
