Commission approves waiver and final map for WR Real Estate division; zoning and master-plan amendment required for residential use

Corey Rice, Elko County surveyor and senior planner, told the commission that WR Real Estate LLC requested a waiver of the tentative map step and submitted a final map creating four nominal 40-acre parcels plus a remainder of roughly 300 acres used for gravel mining. "Staff has no issues with that, and the Elko County Planning Commission did vote unanimously to grant the waiver," Rice said.
Commissioners approved the waiver and later approved the final map with a condition that the four parcels intended for residential use will require a master-plan amendment and rezoning before development. Rice noted the remainder parcel would continue mining under expanded M1 (general industrial) zoning, and the board emphasized the multipart approval process (final map, master-plan amendment, rezone) before residential development could proceed.
