County implements solid waste plan and reports 57,471 pounds collected at electronics recycling event; tire collection set for June 7

Senior Planner Evan Tuthill reported the Cayuga County Local Solid Waste Management Plan received final NYS DEC approval on Jan. 24, 2025 and staff are implementing the plan’s recommendations and public outreach materials. The county held the first of four electronics recycling events on March 22 at multiple sites and collected 57,471 pounds of electronic material for responsible recycling.
Staff are preparing for a Tire Collection and Recycling Event tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025. The county received $15,874.00 in revenue through the Household Hazardous Waste State Assistance Program on Dec. 26, 2024 to reimburse 50% of 2023 HHW program costs and submitted an application for $16,657.86 to cover 50% of 2024 HHW program expenses.
