Planning commission approves group home for at‑risk youth in Mulberry Preserve

Beth Vinyard of the Residential Child Care Licensing Office of Inspector General explained that a group home is regulated by the state Department of Human Services as a small child‑care institution and requires a minimum of one qualified human services professional, annual inspections, and regular monitoring. Support and opposition were both voiced in public comment; commissioners approved the special use with conditions limiting the approval to the current applicant and requiring compliance with county and state standards.
