County moves ahead on EV chargers and solar at Emerson Park with NYSERDA funding; bridge and playground grant applications advanced

The Planning Department reported two NYSERDA grants totaling $135,000 to support EV chargers and solar at Emerson Park, with EV charging installation anticipated next fall pending approvals. Staff also supported grant applications that could provide up to $2,000,000 for a Deauville Island bridge and up to $1,000,000 for a playground.
Planner Emily Antonacci told the committee the county was awarded two NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities grants totaling $135,000 ($10,000 and $125,000) to support rooftop and ground-mounted solar and installation of up to four public EV charging stations at Emerson Park. EV charging construction is anticipated next Fall pending contractor and utility approvals; rooftop solar work is on hold until roof replacement bidding is completed.
Planning staff also reported working with Parks and the County Grant Manager on grant applications: a Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grant application (up to $50,000) for an inflow–outflow sewer study at Emerson Park, a Northern Border Regional Commission application that could fund up to $2,000,000 for the Fleming-side Deauville Island bridge replacement, and a Municipal Parks and Recreation Grant application that could provide up to $1,000,000 for a new playground. Resolutions authorized the submittal of those grant applications.
