Planning commission denies request to expand auto repair and sales on Browns Bridge Road

The Planning Commission voted 4-0 on Oct. 6 to deny a special use amendment that sought to permit both retail sales and repair of used automobiles and boats at 5303 Browns Bridge Road. The applicant, Ali Sadegh, told commissioners the intent was to "allow tire and radio mechanic work, as well as the sale of tires and vehicles," but neighbors said operations have affected Whitmire Drive and raised safety and stormwater concerns.
Neighbor Patti Gray told the commission that customers have been using Whitmire Drive for test drives and that "many of the vehicles do not have license plates on them," and asked for a condition closing the Whitmire Drive entrance. The applicant disputed that test drives occur on Whitmire Drive, and commissioners concluded the combination of uses and the lot size made the request inappropriate for the location. Frank Sosebee moved to deny; the motion carried 4-0 (Davidson absent).
