County planning staff await state decisions on Route 90 DRI and Beacon Bay Restore NY application

County Planning staff reported progress on multiple waterfront and downtown funding efforts and said they are awaiting state action. The Strategic Investment Plan for the Cayuga Lake Route 90 Corridor DRI — covering the Villages of Cayuga, Union Springs and Aurora — was submitted to New York State at the end of 2024 and the county is awaiting which projects will receive DRI funds.
Senior Planner Evan Tuthill reported he submitted a Restore NY application on December 19, 2024 seeking $1 million to redevelop Beacon Bay Marina into a lodging destination; award notifications were expected in June or July 2025. Planning staff said they will work with municipalities on implementation of any projects that receive state awards.
