Planning committee approves Parks & Trails purchases and grant acceptance; Emerson Park projects remain in design phase

Parks & Trails Director Doug DelloStritto updated the committee on multiple Emerson Park initiatives — engineering reviews, Merry‑Go‑Round roof design, pavilion HVAC controls, and integration of a reservations system with credit‑card processing. The Friends of Emerson Park are pursuing fundraising and consultant support, and the Parks Department is moving forward on grant applications for an Emerson Park sewer study, Deauville Island bridge replacement and playground upgrades.
Following the presentation, the committee voted unanimously to approve five Parks & Trails resolutions: 6‑25‑PL‑1 (authorizing purchase of a Kubota RTV), 6‑25‑PL‑2 (reaffirmation for a Land & Water Conservation Fund property), 6‑25‑PL‑3 (replacement of Emerson Park Pavilion emergency exit doors), 6‑25‑PL‑4 (installation of window film at Sterling Nature Center), and 6‑25‑PL‑5 (authorize Chair to accept NYS SWIMS grant and enter contract with NYS Department of State). Motions were recorded as moved and seconded (for example, motion by Daly, second by Winslow) and carried "all in favor." The committee directed staff to continue design and procurement work pending contract reviews and grant agreements.
