Cayuga Centers lays off 119 employees; county workforce staff offering Rapid Response support

Employment & Training Director Kelly King informed the committee that “Cayuga Centers has laid off 119 employees at various locations and [the layoff] will take place on 6/25/25. This layoff is expected to be permanent.” King said county E&T staff are providing Rapid Response services, outreach and reemployment assistance to impacted employees and coordinating with regional partners.
King also reviewed workforce programming and partnerships designed to support reemployment and youth opportunity, including the Summer Youth Employment Program outreach, a public‑speaking workshop, regional job fairs and collaborations with local banks and businesses. The committee noted the size and permanence of the Cayuga Centers layoff and asked staff to continue reporting on Rapid Response outcomes and placements.
