County awarded $160,000 for countywide Brownfield Opportunity Area pre‑planning

Nathaniel Rogers told the committee Cayuga County was awarded $160,000 through the New York State Department of State (BOA program) to conduct a countywide Brownfield Opportunity Area pre‑planning inventory and analysis.
Rogers said the 24‑month project will map underutilized, vacant, abandoned and known or suspected contaminated properties outside the City of Auburn, hire a consultant (90% state funding/10% local match), and produce an inventory to guide future localized BOA planning and redevelopment work. Staff expect the project to formally begin in April 2025.
