Town of Conquest land‑use regulations head toward local adoption, county staff say

County planners told the committee that steering committee recommendations for Town of Conquest land‑use regulations (covering site plan review, special use permits, solar rules, SEQR and subdivisions) have been submitted to the Town Board, with a public informational meeting on April 10 and formal adoption expected by May 2025.
Senior Planner Evan Tuthill told the committee the steering committee has finalized recommended land‑use regulations for the Town of Conquest and formally provided them to the Town Board for review and adoption.
Tuthill said the project covers site plan review, special use permits, solar energy system rules, town environmental review under SEQR, and subdivision regulations. A public informational meeting was scheduled for April 10, 2025 and a subsequent public hearing and SEQR review will follow; staff told the committee they expect local law adoption by May 2025.
Kari Terwilliger said the department began the 16‑month contract in Fall 2023 and has collected $9,933.80 to date with an estimated additional $2,500 expected before project completion.
