County OKs $6,000 painting for health clinic and $7,000 for courthouse holiday lights

Karla Hubbard of the Jackson County Health Department presented a painting quote from Allen Cain for $6,000 to repaint the clinic and health department, which she said had not been painted in at least 20 years; commissioners approved the expenditure by motion. Separately, Building Commissioner Conner Barnette asked to use $7,000 from Rock the Rind proceeds to hire A+ Outdoors to hang holiday lights from the top of the courthouse down to the fence; the county recorded a certificate of insurance on file and approved the request.
Barnette also informed the board that Seth Pollert, who serves on the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), is moving out of the county and that his seat will need to be filled. Commissioners approved the painting and the lighting expenditures with unanimous recorded votes; no alternative contractors, change orders, or installation dates were specified in the minutes.
