The detective bureau handled 448 complaints and the department completed 448 hours of training. The chief also noted three Narcan administrations that saved overdose victims and said the department was recognized by the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network for overdose response performance.
The chief described community policing efforts and upcoming events including a backpack giveaway on Aug. 9 and a golf outing on Aug. 22 to support departmental programs. He said the department is actively recruiting and is short two officers and one cadet.
