A staff member read the notice required by chapter 200, section 200.065 of the Florida Statutes and introduced Resolution 225‑57, saying the proposed rate of 5.8450 is “a 6.89% increase over the rollback rate of 5.4683.” After a motion and second, commissioners each voiced support for keeping millage low where possible and the roll‑call vote was recorded in the affirmative.
The vote does not finalize the budget; it satisfies the legal notice requirement and sets the dates for subsequent hearings at which the public may comment and the commission may adopt the final millage and budget. Staff noted the commission must vote separately on the budget after the millage vote.
