Inspector Duvall of the Broward Sheriff's Office code enforcement unit told the magistrate that a resident reported numerous interior alterations at 10185 Grove Lane and that online pictures showed a converted garage and a possible in‑house rental setup. "They added on to the garage. They put in an apartment. They separated some of the rooms in there," Duvall said, and reported the owner has not applied for permits for the alterations.
Magistrate Kleinman found a violation exists, ordered a $150 administrative fee for today's proceeding, gave the owner 30 days to apply for permits (which may include a demolition permit) and 60 days to have permits issued; failure to meet either deadline would trigger a $100-per-day fine until compliance. The magistrate noted the HOA may also have restrictions but code enforcement enforces the city permits and building rules.
