Tioga County adopts Fair Housing resolution affirming non-discrimination

At its April 15 meeting Tioga County’s Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution R-3-25 affirming that discrimination in housing is prohibited under Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act. The resolution lists protected classes (race, color, sex, national origin, religion, familial status, handicap/disability, and adds age and ancestry per state law) and commits the county to publicize the local Fair Housing Officer contact information and to conduct at least one fair housing activity annually.
The resolution stipulates outreach steps: publicize complaint process and Fair Housing Officer contact through local media and community contacts, use the fair housing logo on housing program materials, and include fair housing information on applications and contracts. The resolution was approved unanimously by the board.
