Tioga County commissioners approve hires, proclamations and a slate of contracts

The Tioga County Board of Commissioners met April 15, 2025 in Wellsboro and approved a series of routine personnel actions, proclamations and contracts. The board accepted the resignation of Penny Whipple as Director of Elections/Voter Registration (effective March 14, 2025) and approved the promotion of Cindy Alexander to Interim Director, Elections/Voter Registration at an annual salary of $50,000, effective March 31, 2025. They also approved hires including Jason Patterson (part-time custodian, $13.50/hr., no benefits), Jamie Balance (Intake Caseworker 1, $18.30/hr., with benefits), Olga Betts (Ongoing Caseworker 1, $18.30/hr., with benefits) and Bret Mathers (part-time Emergency Services Training Coordinator, $19.00/hr., no benefits).
The board issued two proclamations: declaring April 13–19, 2025 National Telecommunicator’s Week in Tioga County and proclaiming May 2025 as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month. Commissioners also approved event uses of county property including courthouse parking May 3, 2025 for the Mammoth Endurance Gravel bike ride and a series of Green and courthouse uses in June 2025 for Laurel Festival activities. The meeting recorded unanimous 3-0 votes on the personnel and facilities motions (motions made by Shane Nickerson or Sam VanLoon and seconded by the other commissioner).
