Brimfield trustees adopt resolution to seek 1.95‑mill levy for fire and emergency services

The board directed Fiscal Officer Jasmine Golden to certify the resolution to the Portage County Auditor and request the auditor's calculation of the township's valuation and the estimated revenue a 1.95‑mill levy would produce.
The resolution specifies the levy would be placed on the tax list commencing in 2026 and, if approved by voters, would be first due in calendar year 2027 for a five‑year term in compliance with Ohio Revised Code section 5705.34. Trustees emphasized the levy is targeted to maintain and upgrade firefighting and emergency medical capacity in Brimfield Township. The board's roll call vote on the resolution was recorded as unanimous.
