Magistrate imposes administrative fee, reduces bulk-pickup citation to $1 in Cooper City case

The magistrate acknowledged the citation record but gave the owner the benefit of the doubt in this instance, reducing the mandatory citation to a nominal $1 fine while certifying a $150 administrative fee for the hearing: "So dollar fine, administrative fee of 150 certified," the magistrate said. The magistrate cautioned that repeat violations at the same property would be treated more strictly in future hearings. The owner said she will work to avoid future violations and asked about options to pay or apply for mitigation; staff described the reduction/mitigation process and payment procedures to avoid certification as a lien.
