Mayor says talks continue on railroad acquisition for Heritage Trail; COTA levy could help fund purchase

Mayor Matthew Cincione told council that discussions are ongoing regarding acquisition of the railroad for the Heritage Trail and that progress is being made on the effort.
Cincione also reminded council that the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) has a levy on the ballot that would support LinkUS, which in turn could provide funding for railroad purchase and extension of the Heritage Trail. Council did not take formal action on the matter at the meeting; it was reported as part of the Mayor’s update.
