Clark County outlines 2026 supplemental and capital requests with just under $3 million available

County Administrator Jennifer Hutchinson presented the county's 2026 supplemental and capital requests, saying, "After putting in the 2026 expenditures and revenues, the county has just under $3 million available." She told commissioners additional investment earnings were about $6 million but the operating budget retains $2 million, leaving roughly $7 million as a pool from which supplemental and capital requests may be funded. Hutchinson said she has prioritized requests and will work with the Auditor's office to draft budget amendments.
Hutchinson described next steps for the supplemental budget: she will coordinate with the Auditor to file amendments, and the board can expect the amendment to come before them within a week or two for formal approval. Commissioner Charles A. Patterson stressed planning for long-term county needs, saying if a replacement plan for Sheriff's Office vehicles is agreed between the sheriff and the commission, "no matter who the leadership is in the coming years, there will still be a plan." The commission did not take final action on specific capital items at the meeting; amendments were described as forthcoming.
