Juvenile probation files FY2027 proposed budget; county accepts filing for record

The juvenile probation department formally filed its proposed fiscal year 2027 budget with the commissioners court, fulfilling a statutory filing requirement. Miss Tubbs explained the process and said she will present the formal budget to the juvenile board on Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. for board approval.
Miss Tubbs told the court that changes in the state calculation raised their required local match by about "29 or almost 30,000," and described her office’s practice of using state funds first and limiting local-match spending when possible. The court moved to accept the financials as presented so the filing is on record; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
"So today is the date that we're filing it, and we're gonna actually meet with the juvenile board, August 27 at 11," Miss Tubbs said when describing the next steps. She added local match requirements increased under state rules and that her office tries to minimize spending of local funds when state aid is available.
The filing started the formal county-level budget process for that department; the juvenile board will take the final action on the department budget at its Aug. 27 meeting.
