A road foreman described the product's use and benefits: "This helps to bind the road together so that way when it rains, it's not a muddy mess ... It is also a dust control unit," he said, explaining that crews mix the product in the water truck, spray and roll the road surface to compact it. Commissioners made a motion to purchase the stabilizer, seconded the motion, and the court approved it. Staff also reported starting the annual traffic-count program and said they had located free base material from a nearby transformer-station project for problem areas.
The county will coordinate installation with road crews and use the product on prioritized unpaved segments; staff said the stabilization program typically cuts dust substantially and helps the surface resist run-off during heavy rains.
