Rutherford County Schools switches to Synergy; parents must re-register, deadline mid-September

Jimmy Sullivan, Rutherford County director of schools, told commissioners the district has transitioned its student-information system from Skyward to Synergy and opened parent re-registration on July 22–23. He said the migration requires families to re-register and submit two proofs of residence and that the district typically sets a final administrative cutoff about two to three weeks into the school year (commonly mid-September) after which students without proof may be dropped from rosters.

"We have moved to Synergy from Skyward," Sullivan said, describing the common statewide move and the additional steps parents must take this year. Sullivan said the district is in the early days of the registration window and that problem solving is ongoing where parents encounter issues.

Sullivan warned that while some students register after school starts, the majority should be enrolled by mid-August, with the district continuing to accept late entries under administrative processes. He also said principals and support staff will continue vetting proofs of residency after the start of school to ensure accurate rosters.
