Supervisor Jim Brady warned the Highway Department remains understaffed and is approaching seven vacant positions. Superintendent Kevin Rooney asked for an update on the Catapult salary study. County Administrator Mark Humbert said Catapult has completed and submitted recommendations for all county positions and that he will recommend opening all seven contracts and updating salaries simultaneously, if the Board of Supervisors chooses to proceed.
At the same discussion, Supervisor Barry VanNostrand urged outreach to local school districts to promote trades and career-day participation to recruit workers; Humbert and Rooney acknowledged the need but said compensation differences between town and county positions remain a key obstacle to recruitment.
