Elk County receives $10,493 EMPG disbursement; emergency manager updates preparedness items

Erica Cordell, Elk County Emergency Manager, told the commission that the county received the full 2024 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) disbursement of $10,493, the maximum available. Cordell said that all county sirens worked during the January test and that she is updating deployable assets and equipment in the state CRMCS (Comprehensive Resource Management and Credentialing System) used for badging personnel.
Cordell said she is preparing an application packet for Kansas Certified Emergency Manager (KCEM) certification and announced an upcoming Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting on Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cox Building, which is open to the public, and a public preparedness event, 'Storm Fury on the Plains,' scheduled for March 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cox Building.
