Health Center advisory board discusses hospital district option and forming charitable foundation; REH back pay received

Members of the Health Center Advisory Board — including Teddy Landers, Earline Lawrence, Brian Huso, Angie Chamberlain, Shelia Johnson and Shelly Fogle — updated the commissioners on Health Center matters during the July 8 meeting. Brian Huso outlined the pros and cons of establishing a hospital district and reviewed what steps would be required for the county to pursue that option.
Jen Crawford reported that REH back pay has come in. Brian Huso also discussed the possibility of creating a charitable foundation trust to support the Health Center's operations and fundraising. Commissioners recorded these updates but took no final action at the meeting on either the hospital district question or the foundation proposal.
The Health Center discussion was informational; any formal moves toward a hospital district or the establishment of a foundation would require additional study and formal action in future meetings.
