Commissioners agree to pursue return of NOAA weather radio to Grant County tower; MOU and contract needed

Daris Weibe asked the board to allow installation of a NOAA National Weather Service radio on a county tower south of Ulysses that currently houses HAM weather radio equipment. Attendees included Sheriff Biddle, EMS Director Jeff Baier, and two amateur ham-radio operators. Weibe said NOAA had been removed from Grant County in 2024 and that a previously requested memorandum of understanding had not been fulfilled.
The commissioners agreed to have NOAA return to Grant County but said a contract or MOU must be established. Daris Weibe will contact NOAA to pursue the reinstatement and county staff will coordinate any required agreements.
