Grant County commissioners approve routine claims, hires and contracts; commit $233,000 to KDOT shoulder project

The Grant County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously April 7 to approve routine business including minutes from March 17, payroll and county claims; payroll totals recorded were $167,889.41 (March 19) and $165,199.11 (April 2), and vouchers ending 177918 totaling $529,384.71.
Commissioners also approved several motions affecting county operations. They accepted a three‑year commercial appraisal services proposal from Kubert Appraisal Group at a total cost of $94,700 to be paid from the Appraiser fund. The board approved a quoted purchase from Overhead Door Company for an insulated steel back door at $2,179.98. Personnel actions approved included a part‑time hire at the Senior Center, a probationary firefighter for the fire department and a part‑time EMT for EMS. The board voted to adjourn at 12:32 p.m. and reconvene on April 21, 2026.
Several of the approvals were procedural but financially material: commissioners agreed to accept Policy Book changes related to Immediate Family and Paid Funeral Leave, and they voted to accept a KDOT Project Programming Request that commits the county to a 20% share ($233,000) of a $1,175,000 project to add paved shoulders on Road 21 from K‑25 east 4.5 miles to Road O, programmed for 2028.
