Benefit vendors present 'Difference Card' deductible debit-card option; commissioners request follow-up meeting

Rhonda Fernandez of PIC Benefit Services and Harrison Lambert, Difference Card Solution senior sales consultant, presented an employee benefits option called the Difference Card. The card would be a debit card pre-loaded with the Blue Cross Blue Shield high-deductible amount that an insured individual could use in place of out-of-pocket payments; once the deductible loaded on the card is exhausted, BCBS would pay 100%.
Presenters said the program would eliminate the two separate cards the county currently uses and would charge no fees on discount savings. Commissioners asked staff to schedule another meeting in the next few weeks to continue evaluating the proposal.
