Grant County creates part-time Senior Center position and agrees concealed carry must remain concealed

The board approved a new part-time role at the Senior Center to assist multiple areas and, after reviewing K.S.A. 75-7c10 and 75-7c20, agreed to allow concealed carry only if always concealed.
Grant County commissioners unanimously approved the creation of a new part-time position at the Senior Center after Director Nancy Borthwick requested additional help to cover multiple areas. Commissioner Martin moved to create the position; Commissioner McGaughey seconded and the motion carried.
During the same discussion Borthwick asked about policy on concealed carry in county buildings. After reviewing statutes K.S.A. 75-7c10 and K.S.A. 75-7c20, the commissioners agreed that concealed carry will be allowed only when the firearm remains concealed. The board did not change other policy language at the meeting and asked staff to present any proposed policy text at a later date.
