Commissioners table proposed cost-of-living raises but approve pool operator pay

County human-resources and payroll items were discussed during the June 29 meeting. Commissioner Jerry Collins moved that the board adopt a cost-of-living increase of 90 cents for county employees and $2.00 for elected officials; Vice-Chair Carla McWilliams seconded, but Chair Kelly Witt tabled the vote for a later meeting.
On a separate personnel item related to pool maintenance, Collins moved and Witt seconded a motion to pay a pool operator $400 per month from April through September; "All in favor, motion carried." The board also noted hires for Groundskeeper and Community Health Worker positions and re-established monthly Department Head meetings to improve coordination.
