Commissioners ask for contractor scopes and seek Heritage Trust grant for courthouse repairs

Loren Wright raised concerns about the courthouse foundation and a basement leak during the March 17 meeting. After reviewing past courthouse projects, the commissioners said they do not believe the leak is caused by a poor foundation but asked Building Maintenance Supervisor David Manzano to solicit scopes of work from local contractors for exterior wall sealing, removal of current concrete, replacement of the north steps with heated concrete, and sealing remaining concrete.
County Clerk Anita Lane said she will prepare a Heritage Trust grant application to assist with funding the courthouse repairs. The board did not make a formal appropriation but instructed staff to return with contractor scopes and a grant application for future consideration.
