The department plans to purchase gear already approved in the 2026 budget and coordinate with the City of Victoria to reach 20 sets; medical exams are estimated at $800 and are reimbursable under the grant.
Myers also requested approval to buy a brush truck skid unit for Company B in Schoenchen for $22,882; $21,041 of that amount is expected to be reimbursed by a Department of Interior grant, leaving a county share of $1,841. The commission approved PO 7982 and PO 7983 for bunker gear and PO 7981 for the skid unit by voice vote 2–0.
