Ellis County authorizes $348,076 cloud migration to Tyler Technologies for public safety software

Communications Director Jeff Ridgway and Sheriff Scott Braun asked the Board of Ellis County Commissioners to authorize migration of the county’s public safety software to Tyler Technologies’ cloud-based SaaS offering. Staff explained Tyler is moving away from on-premises solutions, the county’s current servers are nearing end-of-life, and support personnel are now trained primarily on cloud products.
Commissioner Michael Berges moved to authorize the software-as-a-service agreement and PO 7984 for $348,076; Chair Neal Younger seconded and the motion passed by voice vote 2–0. County staff provided a multi-year cost allocation showing Ellis County’s share of $222,414 in 2026 and estimated recurring and project fees through 2029 shared among the City of Hays, City of Ellis, City of Victoria and Fort Hays State University.
