The Wise County Commissioners on April 13 moved to appoint Justice‑Elect Bill Hogg to the unexpired Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 term through Dec. 31, 2026 following Judge Jan Morrow's retirement.
County Judge J.D. Clark told the Court he "will swear‑in Judge‑Elect Bill Hogg at noon today to serve the unexpired JP1 term" and that Hogg will be sworn in again on Jan. 1, 2027 for his full elected term. The Court voted unanimously to appoint Hogg; Hogg thanked county officials and staff for assistance during the transition.
Clark and others also thanked Commissioners' Court Attorney Thomas Aaberg for his temporary service managing the JP1 office until the appointment. The public was invited to attend Hogg's swearing‑in at the Justice of the Peace Precinct No. 1 courtroom at noon.
