County Judge Lisa Johnson briefed the Hemphill County Commissioners' Court on recent legislative activity and several county facility repair needs at the Sept. 8 meeting.
Johnson said a special state legislative session ended without changes to the county revenue cap and without action on bills concerning lobbyists. She reported receiving an $8,000 quote from Manuel Diaz to rebuild a light post in front of the courthouse and said Southwest Architects' Jeff will prepare numbers and a proposal for pavilion metal replacement for the Sept. 29 meeting. Johnson and Manuel Flores inspected museum needs following a roof repair and identified required sheetrock, framing and subflooring work, and replacement of a carpeted storage area with vinyl. She also noted receipt of the Washita Watershed Plan of Action for 2025 and that some gate posts burned in a fire will need replacement.
