The Plan Commission continued its review of proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance, focusing on demolition standards and the section on violations, remedies and penalties.
Chair Brad Fruth told commissioners he would like to see demolition standards "brought down to one page," arguing brevity could aid enforcement. On violations and remedies, Fruth indicated a preference for a 30-day deadline for responses, but Planning & Zoning Administrator Corey Roser disagreed that a shorter deadline would necessarily improve outcomes, noting many property owners still do not contact staff. Mark Frantz said the current system is functioning but could be refined.
The commission did not adopt final language at the meeting; members directed staff to draft revised text that balances clarity with enforceability and to return with proposed ordinance edits for further consideration.
