Clay County EMS reports higher run volume, seeks signed contracts to cover Cloud County townships

Alec Trembath, Clay County EMS Director, told the Board the department is on run 192 for the period compared with run 204 in 2025 and that the past week included a number of emergency responses and out‑of‑town transfers. Trembath said one paramedic student is ready to begin a field internship (some placements locally, others elsewhere), and that Barton Community College students will come to Clay County for EMT internships. The department also underwent a surprise inspection from the Board of Pharmacy; a couple of corrections were made and the station was subsequently in full compliance.
Trembath provided two draft contracts for Clay County EMS to provide coverage for two townships in Cloud County; the drafts outline payment of tax dollars from Cloud County to Clay County for providing the service. The Board agreed that a signed contract specifying the service area and payment amounts will be required before Clay County provides out‑of‑county EMS coverage.
