Clay County commissioners approve routine abatement, appointments and multiple purchases

At its Feb. 9 meeting the Clay County Board approved Abatement 2025A48, reappointed two judicial nominating commissioners, accepted financing for new radios, and authorized several equipment purchases and sick-leave donations.
The Clay County Board of Commissioners convened Feb. 9 and approved a series of routine actions, including Abatement 2025A48 for $127.30 and the reappointment of two non-lawyer members to the 21st District Judicial Nominating Commission. Commissioner Carlson moved to reappoint Kyle C. Bauer and Steven C. McMahan for terms March 2, 2026–March 5, 2030; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also opened financing bids for a $210,000 purchase agreement for new BK radios and accepted Union State Bank’s bid at 3.99% for a three-year term with one annual payment and no prepayment penalty. Separately, the board approved equipment purchases including two 9-foot snow plows for $19,864.40, a Napa crimper program with a $6,130 net cost after trade credit, and a tire inventory purchase from Kansasland Tire & Service for $189,564.36 to be paid from the Road & Bridge fund. The landfill and Noxious Weed Department each received sick-leave donations from the County Sick Leave Pool (6.5 hours and 60 hours, respectively).
