Joe Wietharn told the Board he located a State Cost Sharing Program grant that may apply to the county’s Kiowa Road asphalt project and recommended the county pursue it. The program issues grants in spring and fall, has a maximum request of $1,000,000, and projects are typically administered by a local unit of government.
The Board agreed the grant was worth pursuing. Wietharn said he will prepare the application as far as he can and then coordinate with Highway Administrator Bobby Shomper to finalize the submission. No formal vote was recorded on pursuing the grant; staff follow-up was assigned.
