County Counselor Todd Luckman told commissioners he will draft a statement for the board regarding a lawsuit brought by Steve Willett; Commissioner Keith Kelly asked that taxpayers be informed the county was found not liable on the allegations and that defending the suit cost county funds. Luckman said he will prepare the statement for the commissioners to review.
Luckman also said he will meet with the Tribal Attorney on March 13 to discuss shared costs for bridges on reservation land; he told the board that if a bridge is found not to be in compliance, the county would close it for safety reasons. He additionally reported two indigent burials requiring payment of final burial expenses and said he would contact the state to explore funding for one case involving an inmate; the minutes do not indicate final decisions or funding sources.
