Four County Mental Health seeks CDBG help, demographic study for local facility

Representatives from Four County Mental Health told the Elk County Board on March 10 they explored reusing an existing Family Dollar building but owners were unwilling to sell, and that the agency is instead interested in pursuing a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to construct a facility near the county health department.
Greg Hennen said Four County would require a demographic and community-impact study within the next three to four months to support a CDBG application. He said South Central Kansas Economic Development District (SCKEDD) will be Four County's contact for grant assistance and that Community Development Director Diane Cucar already has the necessary contact information.
No formal county commitment of funding was recorded in the minutes; the item was presented to inform the commission and to identify county staff contacts for the grant process.
